Young and the Restless Gets a New Summer Newman
Summer Newman is officially back to the canvas with a new actress. Allison Lanier has been recast on Young and the Restless, replacing actress Hunter King.
The news came just in time for Michael Mealor's return as Kyle Abbott next week. Lanier is expected to make her first Y&R appearance later in May.
In February, a casting call has gone out for the character of Summer Newman. At the time, it was revealed that it'd be a role "with the potential of a 3-year contract."

Hunter King first played the part from 2012 to 2021. Her last appearance on The Young and the Restless was in a February episode during a video chat with Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford). She also appeared with Kyle at Victoria (Amelia Heinle) to Ashland Locke's (then Richard Burgi) wedding, as well as a Nick Newman special episode in December 2021.
Meanwhile, viewers might recognize Allison Lanier from her roles in the Amazon series Red Oaks. She also starred in the movie It Happened in L.A. Lanier also played roles in indie films Mia and Fish Bones. Young and the Restless will mark Allison Lanier's daytime debut.

What To Expect When She Returns on Y&R?
Many are now wondering about Summer Newman's upcoming storyline. Kyle Abbott is returning to Genoa City, only to find out that his supposedly dead mother, Diane Jenkins, is very much alive.
Summer is expected to accompany Kyle when he returns. She'll likely offer much-needed support, especially during such a crucial time in her husband's life.

Some Young and the Restless fans are hoping to see Summer Newman pregnant when she makes a comeback on the show. It'll be an interesting storyline, especially with Diane back in the picture.
Others are also looking forward to seeing her interaction with Nick and Phyllis. With all the drama going on in the family, Summer will definitely have her hands full.
