Another Young and the Restless cast member is reportedly making an exit and will be replaced soon. It has been revealed that the long-running CBS soap is on the lookout for someone who can take over the role of Summer Newman. What could this mean for the show?
Young and the Restless: Another Cast Member Leaving?
It looks like Y&R isn't done with recasting some of its cast members. After the shocking replacement of Richard Burgi as Ashland Locke, another character will have a new face soon.
According to a report by Soap Hub, a casting call has gone out for the character of Summer Newman. Apparently, it'd be a contract role, though no specific dates have been disclosed.
"Summer is a dynamic, attractive woman in her Late 20's–savvy, fun-loving, and refined, from a powerful and rich family. The role will be under standard Sony Pictures TV daytime contract terms, with the potential of a 3-year contract," the casting breakdown reads.

Y&R: What About Hunter King?
Actress Hunter King is currently portraying the role of Summer Newman. She first played the part from 2012 to 2021 and won two Daytime Emmys for her outstanding performances.
King's last appearance on the show was in December 2021, during Nick Newman's special episode. She also appeared with her on-screen husband, Kyle Abbott, at the wedding of Summer's aunt Victoria (Amelia Heinle) to Ashland Locke (then Richard Burgi).
Currently, the role of Summer Newman is happily living in Italy with Kyle Abbott on the Young and the Restless. Hunter King is expected to make another appearance in the February 21 episode during a video chat with Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford). It's unclear if that will be the last Y&R appearance for King.

What To Expect?
Given the timing of the casting call, it's unlikely that Young and the Restless will have a new Summer Newman in spring. It's possible that Hunter King's replacement will make her appearance further down the road.
Meanwhile, no word yet if Michael Mealor will reprise his role as Kyle Abbott. Of course, it's possible that Y&R will recast his character too. Or perhaps, a new storyline awaits for the new Summer, like coming home to Genoa City as a divorced woman. It'll be exciting to see the new Summer Newman in action.
