'7 Little Johnstons': Did Joose Jeskanen Get Culture Shock in America?

7 Little Johnstons finally returns for its 11th season, and it's looking quite promising already. On Tuesday, March 15, 2022, fans got to see the Johnston family back in action, along with their eighth member, Joose Jeskanen.

7 Little Johnstons Family Welcomes Finnish Joose Jeskanen

On the premiere episode of 7 Little Johnstons Season 11 titled The Finnish Are Coming, the Johnston family prepared for the arrival of Finnish exchange student, Joose Jeskanen. Amber and Trent Johnston decided to host the blonde boy, who will stay with them for three months.

Ahead of Joose's arrival, Amber and her kids tried to learn his language. They even made an effort to label items at their home in Finnish so their house guest would not have difficulty understanding them.

Amber Johnston also asked her family to speak proper English to help with Joose Jeskanen's learning. Though challenging, the 7 Little Johnstons stars tried their best to use the correct words and pronunciation as much as possible.

Joose Gets First Taste of America

Joose Jeskanen immediately got a taste of life in America as soon as he arrived. The  7 Little Johnstons star admitted that everything in the country is new for him.

The first thing he noticed was "a lot of traffic" on the road. Joose also noted that cars in Finland are a lot smaller and rarely big trucks on the road.

But on a more serious note, Joose Jeskanen revealed the difference between his home country and the US, particularly when it comes to being a little person. Back home, the 7 Little Johnstons cast member doesn't get a lot of stares from people.

Joose added that in Finland, they don't call little people names, such as "midget." Instead, they use the more formal term "short stature."

Despite the differences, Joose Jeskanen seemed to have adjusted well in America. The 7 Little Johnstons houseguest admitted that he could definitely stay longer in the country given a chance.

7 Little Johnstons: How Do They Help Him Adjust?

Aside from assisting him in learning English, the Johnston family also helped Joose Jeskanen feel comfortable during his three-month stay. The 7 Little Johnstons family provided him with his own bedroom far from the rest so he could have all the space he needed.

Joose also finds it amazing that Amber and Trent's house was tailored for little people — something he hadn't experienced at his own home. Joose's family members are all average-sized, so all the stuff in his house are regular sizes.

It's safe to say that Joose Jeskanen enjoyed his stay with the 7 Little Johnstons family. Amber, Trent, and the kids hope to visit him in Finland in the summer.
