Now that Ashland's prognosis is improving, he may have changed his mind about merging his name with the Newmans. Perhaps his plan was always to steal Victor's empire.
Certainly, Victor would not give up his life's work without a fight. Also, Ashland would have to contend with Nikki. Ashland may not get away with much under Nikki's watchful eye. Between Victor and Nikki, Ashland may leave town with his tail between his legs on Y&R.
