Young and the Restless fans are in for some big changes on the show. New reports claim the CBS soap is facing budget cuts, potentially putting some characters at risk of being dropped. Here's what we know so far.
Young and the Restless Faces a Challenge
It looks like Y&R will be forced to let go of some key characters. According to reports, Paramount Global, the parent company of CBS, suffered from a revenue drop in its television network division.
As a result, Young and the Restless will allegedly make adjustments to accommodate impending budget cuts. It is expected that the show will have a major cast shake-up, whether the actors like it or not.

Who's Out?
Rory Gibson (Noah Newman) and Kelsey Want (Allie Nguyen) have already get dropped from contract to recurring status. The timing of it seemingly coincides with the upcoming budget cuts, though it has yet to be confirmed to be connected.
Now it seems more cast members will follow suit soon. A source claims at least three main characters are at risk of being demoted to recurring status to offset the losses.
Apparently, Susan Walters' character, Diane Jenkins, could potentially take the backseat. However, some viewers find it ridiculous, considering that Diane plays a vital role in Young and the Restless' current storyline.

Another character at risk of making an untimely exit is Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd). But unlike Diane, Chance's supposed exit will be more understandable. Given that his wife, Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway), cheated on him, it wouldn't be surprising if he took a break for a while.
Then there's Mark Grossman. Rumor has it that Adam Newman was forced out of his pairing with Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) because of his impending change in status on Young and the Restless. It's hard to imagine the show without Adam, so there's a chance he'll be saved.
Meanwhile, last month, Mishael Morgan (Amanda Sinclair) voluntarily dropped down to recurring status. However, with the rumored budget adjustments, she might just get cut from Y&R altogether.

What's Next for Y&R?
Despite the supposed challenges behind the scenes, Young and the Restless promised some exciting surprised for its 50th anniversary. Fans can look forward to returning characters, including Michael Graziadei (Daniel Romalotti) and Michael Damian (Danny Romalotti).
Rumor has it that producers also reached out to other past characters, but that is yet to be confirmed.
