Multiple sources have confirmed that Steve Burton is out at General Hospital. The actor is best known for the role of Jason Morgan on the ABC soap. There have been rumors of cast shakeups behind the scenes due to their vaccine mandates.
So it appears the actor will vacate the role that he has played on and off since 1991. Steve left the ABC soap before and portrayed another fan-favorite role on Young and the Restless.
Rumors are flying that Mr. Burton is headed back to The Young and the Restless, which has fans very excited. Steve Burton portrayed the popular role of Dylan McAvoy from 2013 through 2017 on Y&R. Dylan came to town a stranger, but ended up having familial and romantic ties in Genoa City.
Who Is Dylan McAvoy On Young and the Restless?
If you are a new viewer of Young and the Restless, you may not know much about Dylan McAvoy. So here are some highlights.
Dylan shocked his ex-lover Avery Clark (Jessica Collins) by showing up alive when she believed he died in Afghanistan. They did not rekindle their relationship as Avery was involved with Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) at the time.
Dylan moved on with Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) and she became pregnant. They married and had a baby boy. However, the marriage ended when it was revealed the baby's father was Adam Newman (Mark Grossman).
Then Dylan was shocked to learn that Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) was his mother and his father was Paul Williams (Doug Davidson).

Dylan became engaged to Avery but believed she was involved with another man. He and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) grew close and slept together on Young and the Restless.
Sharon eventually became pregnant and gave birth to a boy while getting treatment in Fairview. They were married and happy. Sadly, Sharon learned her baby had died and was switched with another newborn. Yet she chose to keep it a secret. Dylan learned the truth and was heartbroken.
Dylan was a detective in the GCPD and chose to go undercover in Miami to bring down an infamous crime lord. Things went bad and Dylan was forced to enter the Witness Protection Program. Dylan said his goodbyes to Sharon, Nikki, and Paul. That was the last Dylan was seen or heard from on the Young and the Restless.
Is There a Place for Dylan On Y&R?
Dylan still has strong connections to Genoa City. His mother, Nikki, would be thrilled to have him back. Presumably, Paul is still in Genoa City and would love to see his son again.

It seems as though the GCPD could use another experienced detective. Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) might welcome the help. Although he may not be thrilled to have another great love of Sharon's to contend with. Hopefully, the rumors are true and Dylan will return to The Young and the Restless.
