Young and the Restless Cast Members Walk Down Memory Lane
Meanwhile, the current Young and the Restless cast members kick off the soap's anniversary month with a nostalgic trip down memory lane. During an event, the stars of the hit CBS soap open the Y&R time capsule.
The historic container was buried 25 years ago, just in time for the show's silver anniversary in 1998. Actors Christian LeBlanc (Michael Baldwin) and Sean Dominic (Nate Hastings) do the honor of retrieving the time capsule from its resting place.
Meanwhile, Kate Linder (Esther Valentine) joins the fun as she dusts off the time capsule in her iconic maid uniform. The rest of the Young and the Restless cast members gather around and look at what's inside the special box.
Connor Floyd (Chance Chancellor), Melissa Ordway (Abby Newman), Bryton James (Devon Hamilton), Lauralee Bell (Christine Blair), Camryn Grimes (Mariah Copeland), Sharon Case (Sharon Newman), Michael Damian (Daniel Romalotti), Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott) and Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman) are all thrilled to see the Y&R mementos from over two decades ago.

What's Next for Young and the Restless?
As Young and the Restless 50th-anniversary approaches, avid fans couldn't help but wonder what's next for the show. Recently, it has been reported that executive producer/head writer Josh Griffith handed out pink slips to the entire breakdown writing team.
According to a report by TheWrap, Griffith axed all five breakdown writers of the CBS' top-rated daytime drama. Breakdown writers are the ones responsible for plotting out story arcs throughout numerous episodes.

Griffith reportedly made the drastic move as a cost-cutting measure, and he will take on the writing duties himself. The alleged firings come just two months after co-executive producer Anthony Morina stepped down, leaving Griffith as the show's sole showrunner.
Supposedly, there's some "restructuring of the writing staff to streamline the creative process." It is also noted that the move was "based on what made sense for the show creatively and mirrors the structure at other soaps."
For now, fans can only wait and see how it'll affect future Young and the Restless storylines. Head back to Showbiz Army for more Y&R news and updates.
