Bold and the Beautiful star Scott Clifton is the latest cast member to speak out against the increasing number of fake profiles on social media. The actor expressed his dismay about the matter and gave fans some useful tips on how not to fall for it.
Bold and the Beautiful: Scott Clifton Condemns Posers
Looks like Scott Clifton has had enough of posers pretending to be him on social media. The Bold and the Beautiful actor took to Instagram and warned fans about the increasing imposter problems on different platforms.
Scott, who plays Liam Spencer, shared a video of himself talking about the matter. He points out that it's so easy for anyone to create a profile, slap a celebrity's face and name on it, and then start engaging with clueless fans.
The B&B star noted he's been confronted by at least a dozen real-life cases of people whose lives have been destroyed by these posers. Some of them gave away their life savings, others sold their properties or left their spouses.
Scott Encourages Fans to be Vigilant
Scott Clifton reminded everyone to be more vigilant about meeting someone online. The Bold and the Beautiful actor pointed out that the issue is "getting scarier and scarier" and that it's a "very dangerous problem."
Liam's portrayer also clarified that he will not reach out to his fans asking for money or randomly starting a romantic relationship over a private message. He encouraged his followers to arm themselves with skepticism and education on how to tell reality from fiction on social media.
Scott also gave fans some useful tips on how to prevent being duped by these scammers. Check out his message below:
Addressing once again the increasingly dangerous imposter problem on social media. A few things I forgot to mention in the video:
1. If you come across an imposter account, PLEASE block and report them.
2. I don't use TikTok, Facebook, or anything besides Instagram for connecting/sharing with fans.
3. Read someone's handle closely: if it's not @cliftoncam exactly, it ain't me. Look for underscores, hyphens, numbers, etc. Dead giveaway.
4. Ask strangers to prove they are who they say they are. Think critically about whether what they tell you *actually* proves what it's supposed to.
5. Please spread the word!
Other B&B Stars Share Awareness
Aside from Scott, Annikka Noelle also expressed her frustration about the issue, revealing that she too was a victim of such a scheme. The Hope Logan actress called out social media giants for allowing these sham profiles to exist.
"This is what happens when you don't disable the fake accounts," Annika added. "I have reported impersonation accounts countless times, and nothing gets done. Fix these now. People are getting exploited daily by these."
Meanwhile, Bold and the Beautiful reminded everyone not to trust those sketchy profiles pretending to be one of their cast members or staff.
"A gentle reminder that our cast/crew/staff will NEVER solicit you personally for money or anything else. If you are being contacted by someone portraying themselves as a cast member, please report them immediately to X and/or local authorities. We appreciate our fans very much, and thank you for watching!"
Earlier this month, a woman from Massachusetts fell victim to a scammer posing as Bold and the Beautiful star Thorsten Kaye. According to reports, the faux Thorsten urged Roxanne Doucette to kill her spouse, Paul Doucette. She was charged with attempted murder, resisting arrest, assault and battery on a police officer, and intimidation of a witness.
