LPBW star Jacob Roloff is not letting his traumatic past get in the way of his happy family life. The husband of Isabel Roloff got real about his experience and how it changed his perspective in life.
Jacob first went public about being molested as a child in 2020. Since then, he's been advocating for those who suffered the same abuse as his.
LPBW: Jacob Roloff Gets Real About Child Abuse Experience
It's been over a year since Jacob Roloff came forward with his sexual abuse story, yet it still shocks many of his followers. In his statement, the Little People, Big World star claimed a former producer of the show, Chris Cardamone, molested him after a "long grooming process."
Jacob did not detail his abuse, but he still received lots of support and understanding from fans. Now, he's re-sharing his statement, highlighting how he turned the traumatic experience into something more positive.
"1 year and 11 days ago, I posted my statement about my experience with CSA (child sexual abuse)," Jacob recalled in a lengthy Instagram post. "I said, 'I am certain that this is a positive moment for me, and another step toward a brighter future.'"
Jacob Roloff goes on to say that he "meant" everything he said in his shocking statement last year. The LPBW star noted that being open about it made him feel "free of a useless burden."
Jacob Thankful to Wife and Son
Being open about his painful past made Jacob Roloff a stronger person. The Little People, Big World star said he became a better version of himself after letting it all out of his chest.
Jacob added that confessing about the sexual abuse brought him closer to his wife, Isabel Roloff. It also gave him more self-confidence and allowed him to grow and become the best dad to his son, Mateo.
"[I] felt so much closer to my ever-supportive wife, so much more open and confident to myself; on some level, it allowed me to become a dad, to finally open that door," Jacob Roloff said. "I'm so, so happy that I did, and I love Mateo more than I could have guessed or hoped or dreamed."
Little People, Big World: How Jacob Overcomes Traumatic Past?
LPBW fans lauded Jacob Roloff for overcoming the darkest day of his life. The husband of Isabel Roloff managed to turn things around, putting his past behind.
Last year, Jacob said talking about the abuse made him realize many things. "By revealing this, I may be more fully understood, and my perspective on issues such as child sexual abuse, child exploitation, and the collateral costs of reality television may be received more clearly," he explained."
Jacob Roloff also reiterated that sexual assault could happen to anyone and anywhere, so it's best to be vigilant.
"This may also serve as a reminder that the experience of sexual assault, in all of its iterations, can happen to anyone at any time and is a far more prevalent reality than our current social stigma allows us to talk about," the LPBW star added.
