Deacon is definitely not happy with how things turned out between Carter and Hope. He thinks the lawyer wronged his daughter when he chose the Forresters over her.
In his defense, Carter says he thought Hope would understand his decision. But Deacon isn't having any of it.
"How many times does my daughter have to have her heart broken?!" he angrily asks Carter before hitting him hard with a kick and a punch in the face. Carter falls against the desk, but quickly recovers and fight back.
